CAP Delivers Group Report and Product Evolution Recommendations

The Aplicor CAP (Customer Advisory Panel) delivered its annual report which includes few product evolution recommendations. The group's recommendations included the following:

  • Expand automated address verification from just the US to the UK, Australia and other regions
  • Expand Australian utilization by establishing regional tax rules and shipping methods into CRM Order Entry module.
  • Provide significant localization and expandability for Asian market.
  • Permit non-US users to manually designate data center location instead of being automatically routed via load balancing devices.
  • Insert default Location parameter to all pop-up modal windows (such as Resources) to provide automated filter by company region.
  • Add multi-currency selection to OLAP and predictive reporting dashboards.
  • Show unrealized and realized currency gains and losses (based on exchange rate fluctuations) at Order Entry transaction level.
  • Research modified BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) to decrease latency effect for nations with less developed telecommunications.
  • Change the security Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) from a negative enforcement model to a positive enforcement model.
  • Lessen the severity and sensitivity of the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) by changing select IPS signatures to IDS alert notifications.
  • Expand more aggressively with vertical market CRM and ERP editions.
  • Expand ERP suite to include more supply chain and distribution functionality.

We're disappointed with the report for two reasons. First, in our opinion, the group's recommendations were too few and too vague. While we understand the importance of strategic recommendations over tactical requests, we feel CAPs report was too high level and lacked specificity.

Second, the report placed too much emphasis on large and global client organizations (at the expense of single site and mid-market companies). While we don't know all the CAP members, we have been told they include the US Department of Commerce, Canon, Microsoft, Custom House and other multi-national organizations with CRM users on several continents. The group's report recommendations clearly place an accessibility, security and functionality emphasis on multi-site and global organizations.

With our disappointment clearly noted, we do recognize the value of the suggestions and we respectfully ask Aplicor to consider these points not in a vacuum but in addition to the more functionally oriented requests from the Aplicor User Community.
