CRM Best Practice #2 - Smart Linking
We've used smart linking to increase our user adoption and while most users make good use of it, our traveling sales staff love it. It's not so apparent that you can use Aplicor's Link Editor to create contextually sensitive data links between account or contact data and external web sites. By first querying the external web sites and then reviewing the browser URL text string, you can understand how they construct their search strings and then use Aplicor's "Field Codes" in the Web Link Editor to automate the process. After understanding the external web site search structure, copy the browser string text, then go to the Account page, click the LINK icon, select Add/Edit, select New, use a "URL" Link Type and paste the external web site URL string into the "Link URL" field. After that, just use Aplicor's "Field" dropdown to display the "Field Code" and copy the field code into the below "Link URL" string at the appropriate
spot. We've found some interesting uses for the contextually sensitive smart linking.
